Indonesia Announces the World's Largest Manta Sanctuary

The Manta Trust, WildAid, Blue Sphere Media, The Indonesian Manta Project and Save Our Seas are today celebrating the signing of a new regulation creating the world’s largest manta sanctuary, encompassing a massive 6 million square kilometers of ocean, enforcing full protection for Oceanic and Reef Manta Rays (Manta birostris and Manta alfredi) in Indonesia. The Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Pak Agus Dermawan, signed the agreement in Jakarta; the event was attended by the Ministry of Tourism, national and international NGOs as well as global media.

LONDON - As government leaders gather in London to discuss new measures to counter wildlife trafficking, WildAid and conservation’s top stars released two new messages as part of the world’s largest campaign to reduce the demand for endangered species products. One message, “Whole World”, features The Duke of Cambridge, David Beckham, NBA great Yao Ming, and a crash of rhinos courtesy of GreenScreen Animals.

Remembering Dudley Saunders

The entire WildAid family is shocked and saddened at the loss of our friend, the legendary South African cameraman, Dudley Saunders. For three decades, Dudley courageously covered up-close many of the biggest stories and most volatile situations on the continent, including wars, famine, conflicts, and the escalating threat to wildlife. Dudley was one of the few cameramen assigned to Nelson Mandela following his release from prison and through his ascension to the Presidency. He shot for the SABC, BBC, NBC, and news agencies around the world.
