Shannon Benson


Shannon Benson, aka Shannon Wild, is an Australian wildlife photographer, author and presenter based in South Africa.

Her knack for bringing out the best in her animal subjects is clear in her award winning images. Shannon's desire for technical excellence shines in her work while maintaining a sense of spontaneity and freedom. Her work has been exhibited around the world including Paris, New York and LA. 

Shannon has a weekly series on AnimalBytesTV called Shannon Wild, which follows Shannon’s adventures in her search for the perfect shot.

She has been involved in various conservation projects over the years including shooting two charity calendars for Devil Ark called the Australian Girls of Herpetology, volunteering her photographic services and working with the critically endangered Grand Cayman Blue Iguana in the Caribbean as well as spending many years as an Australian wildlife carer involved in rescue and rehabilitation specialising in reptiles. 

Shannon has authored three books, the first ‘Captive Care of the Central Netted Dragon’ is ecophysiology and husbandry focused whereas her second title, 'Pet Photography How-To' teaches readers her secrets as an award-winning pet photographer.  Her latest title 'Wildlife Photography How-To' teaches essential photography fundamentals combined with her tips on working with and photographing wildlife to provide a thorough wildlife photography guide.
