Ian Somerhalder is an American actor and director who has starred in both television and film. He is best known for his role as Boone Carlyle in the TV drama Lost, and for his role as Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries. Ian has a long list of causes that he is involved with including the St. Tammany Humane Society and The Trevor Project. He helped in the cleanup following the Deepwater Horizon oil drilling disaster and established the Ian Somerhalder Foundation. The foundation's mission is to empower, educate and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and its creatures.
