Actress and WildAid ambassador for pangolins, sharks, climate, rhinos

Maggie Q is an American actress known for the title role in The CW's Nikita, the series Designated Survivor, and the films Mission: Impossible III and Live Free or Die Hard. A lifelong animal advocate, she was named PETA Asia-Pacific's Person of the Year in 2008, and she is one of WildAid's longest-standing ambassadors.

Maggie Q's work with WildAid

For more than a decade, Maggie Q has lent her voice to WildAid campaigns, above all for pangolins and sharks, reaching audiences across Asia and the United States with one message: say no to wildlife products.

Pangolins: "Let Pangolins Live"

Filmed in Vietnam, Maggie Q's "Let Pangolins Live" PSA introduces audiences to the world's most trafficked wild mammal. An estimated 200,000 pangolins are taken from the wild every year for their meat and scales, even though the scales are made of keratin, the same protein as our fingernails, and have no proven medicinal value.

Sharks

Maggie Q appeared in WildAid's PSAs against shark fin soup in China, alongside Yao Ming and Jackie Chan. A 2014 WildAid report found that shark fin vendors in Guangzhou saw sales fall by 82%, and that two-thirds of consumers who had given up shark fin soup cited awareness campaigns as a reason.

She has also appeared in WildAid's #JoinTheHerd and Ivory Free campaigns for elephants.
