Chef and protector of Gabon's gastronomic heritage
Chef O’miel, born O'miel Moundounga, is a leading Gabonese chef whose work combines contemporary culinary techniques with Gabonese culinary traditions. His practice is rooted in a clear objective to document, preserve, and promote Gabon’s gastronomic heritage. In 2017, he initiated a national culinary mapping project, based on a countrywide tour aimed at identifying regional dishes, local products, and traditional know how across Gabon’s provinces.
Chef O’miel advocates for the use of local products and respect for seasonality, viewing these principles as essential from cultural, economic, and environmental perspectives. His professional approach focuses on skill transmission, capacity building, and the long-term promotion of Gabonese gastronomy.
He brings that respect for Gabon's traditions and nature to his work for WildAid as an ambassador for the country's forests and oceans.
