The first rule of climate change… is to please talk about climate change!
That was the rallying cry of WildAid CEO Meaghan Brosnan’s talk on the TEDxBoston stage. While most Americans support climate action, two-thirds rarely or never talk about climate change.
The result is that we stay silent, which can look like indifference — and lead to inaction.
On September 2, 2026, a new report from the United Nations revealed that the world is now likely to cross the 1.5°C warming threshold within just a few years. Above 1.5°C, climate impacts intensify dramatically with every fraction of a degree, every year.
But here’s the hopeful part: we can limit how much hotter the planet gets, shorten the time we spend above 1.5°C, and bring temperatures back down. The challenge is turning public concern into meaningful action.
So how do we get more people talking and acting on climate change?
In her TEDx talk, Meaghan discusses one surprisingly powerful tool for changing what people pay attention to, talk about, and ultimately do: advertising.
